Just a few minutes’ walk from the Hotel & Apartment Alpenland in Obergurgl, you’ll find the Obergurgl Ski School, which has been teaching winter sports since 1922 and offers a wide range of courses, led by more than 100 qualified ski instructors. This means you can head straight to your ski lesson from the ski-in/ski-out hotel.
At the Obergurgl Ski School, you can choose between group lessons and private tuition. Group lessons are organised according to ability, so you can make progress alongside others at a similar level. With a private ski instructor in Gurgl, the tuition is tailored entirely to your ability and your goals. The ski instructors are qualified instructors or state-certified mountain and ski guides.
In the children’s ski course in Obergurgl, your child aged 4 and over will learn to make their first turns in a playful way and quickly achieve small successes in the snow. Even the youngest children, aged 3.5 and over, are welcome to join in: at the BOBO Ski Club, one ski instructor looks after 5 to 6 children. In the sheltered children’s areas of Wiesental and Pirchhütt, children can practise at their own pace and discover the snow.
Adult beginners can learn the correct technique safely in group lessons, whilst experienced skiers can refine their style. Those who want to combine skiing with freestyle can make use of the Funslope and the Quattro Snow Park. Snowboard courses are available from the age of 10 at various skill levels, from first attempts on the edge to off-piste experts. Beginners’ snowboard courses are also on the programme.
Away from the slopes, the Obergurgl Ski School offers a weekly programme featuring cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ski touring. A guide will accompany you on every activity and teach you the basics. On the cross-country skiing course, you’ll learn the technique on the twelve-kilometre network of trails around Obergurgl. The snowshoe hike takes you through deep snow; you can collect the necessary equipment from the ski school office. On easy ski tours, the mountain guides will show you the Ötztal Alps.
