Difficulty levels for mountain hikes explained simply
In the mountains, hiking trails are divided into three categories:
Blue routes are ideal for beginners and families and can be tackled without any mountaineering experience.
Red mountain trails require sure-footedness, a good level of fitness and appropriate mountaineering equipment.
Black trails require high-altitude mountaineering experience, a head for heights and often additional safety equipment.
